Golden Opportunities: Portugal’s Golden Visa Program Hits Three-Year High

Rising British Interest Post-Brexit

Interestingly, British participation in the program has surged in the past year. This rising interest likely corresponds to post-Brexit uncertainties, with UK investors seeking the security and benefits of EU residency. A record 26 approvals for UK investors were granted in May alone, indicating an upward trend that may not have peaked yet.

Investor Nationality Shifts

Cumulatively, from the inception of the program, Americans have emerged as the third-largest investor nationality, overtaking both South Africans and Turks over the past year.

In a significant milestone, the Golden Visa program exceeded EUR 7 billion in total investments in May. For the first time in the program’s history, the fund investment option became the largest approval category in May, recording 68 approvals.
